Imagine.....the sun shining over the incoming Ivy at Wrigley Field. We were enjoying our favorite baseball team (Go Cubs!) and some Old Style with our friends, Beth and Cody. Ken kept coming back with more beer - clearly to help with the nerves!!
During the game, Ken began to stage his plan. He mentioned that we should meet up with his sister, brother-in-law and their three kids after the game at Navy Pier. After a few mock phone calls with his sister, the plan was set.

Once we arrived at Navy Pier, Ken faked another call with his sister and said that they wouldn't be able to meet us for a little while. He suggested that in the meantime, we take a ride on the ferris wheel. I thought "oh sure, I've actually never been on it!" While we were waiting in line, Ken started saying he was afraid of heights and I thought for a second "hmmm, we've been dating for 5 and 1/2 years and I never knew he was afraid of heights!" As we were getting into the gondola, Ken made a quick move to get the ring out of his pocket (which was in his pocket the whole day). On our way to the top, he looks at me and says "I think I'm really afraid of heights" and I say "oh, ok" (I know, I'm very comforting :) He then says, hold my hand....I held out my hand for his and instead he opened a box with a gorgeous diamond ring. I looked at him as he got on one knee (yes, in the gondola) and started crying as he asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES and my next words were, Oh my gosh, don't drop it! The ferris wheel stopped at the top and it was the most incredible view.....gazing into each other's tearful eyes while overlooking the city. It was so romantic and secluded....I felt as if we were the only two people in the world.
